is a federal program that helps low-income individuals and families afford nutritious food. Formerly known as food stamps, SNAP provides monthly benefits via an Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) card that can be used at grocery stores and farmers' markets. Eligibility is based on income, household size, and other factors, and the program is designed to reduce food insecurity and improve health outcomes by ensuring access to essential nutrition.

TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families)

is a federal block grant program that provides financial assistance and support services to low-income families with children. Its goals include promoting job preparation, reducing dependency on government benefits, and encouraging the formation and maintenance of two-parent families. States have flexibility in how they use TANF funds, which can include cash assistance, childcare support, job training, and other services aimed at helping families achieve self-sufficiency.

Medicaid

is a joint federal and state program that provides health insurance to eligible low-income individuals, including children, pregnant women, elderly adults, and people with disabilities. It covers a wide range of medical services, such as doctor visits, hospital stays, long-term care, and preventive care. Each state administers its own Medicaid program within federal guidelines, and eligibility and benefits can vary by state. Medicaid plays a critical role in the U.S. healthcare system by ensuring access to care for vulnerable populations.
